Alan Pepper, concert secretary, said: “Richard has for many years promoted many concerts and brought  into our area many artistes of national and international repute.”

Richard has also, for many years, been responsible for the widely-acclaimed Wentworth Music Festival held every September.

Alan explained: “Richard is now leaving his post at Wentworth and moving to new challenges in North Yorkshire and for that reason the Thurnscoe Choir wants to wish him well and send him on his way with a huge vote of thanks for all his musical influence over the years.”

The Thurnscoe Harmonic Male Voice Choir was founded in 1924 by members of local church and chapel choirs.

Choir members will be joined on May 11 by leading soprano Anna Senior.
