Transport museum lays on free Christmas shopping specials

South Yorkshire Transport Museum at Aldwarke will be running free buses between Rotherham town centre and the museum via Parkgate Shopping on Sunday.

A 1960s blue and cream Sheffield bus will give people the chance to experience a ride on a vintage bus, visit the transport museum and do some Christmas shopping.

Parkgate operations manager Billy Smith said: “This is a first for Rotherham, and we are delighted to be able to give families, children and people of all ages a Christmas treat and the opportunity to ride on this marvellous bus free of charge,”

David Taylor, the museum’s operations director, added: “These are exciting times for the museum and we look forward to increasing our activities with schools and within the wider community in 2012 thanks to our involvement with Parkgate.”
