SPECTATORS at this year’s Tour de Yorkshire can expect freebies galore.
The tour’s largest-ever publicity caravan will be passing along the route between the women’s and men’s races, with a record 30 vehicles lined up to take part.
This popular cycling tradition will see some of the county’s best-loved brands travel behind the women's race, handing out freebies and keepsakes numerous locations along the route, including Elsecar at 1.25pm and Mexborough at 2.20pm.
Cycling legends such as Tour de France stage winners Barry Hoban and Hugh Porter and former world class cyclist Denise Burton-Cole will travel behind the calvacade, giving people the chance for a quick meet-and-great and a photo.
Welcome to Yorkshire Chief Executive Sir Gary Verity said: “The publicity caravan is always a fun and light-hearted way to get roadside spectators and this year's procession is by far the largest we have ever assembled.”
Participants in the publicity caravan include: Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries, Virgin Trains, Black Sheep Brewery, Soreen, Mug Shot, Global Autocare, Welcome to Yorkshire, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Lucy Pittaway, Yorkshire Cycle Expo, Santos Tour Down Under, Twisted Automotive, the Consulate of Pakistan, Carthy & Black, Slingsby Gin, Fuel for School (The Real Junk Food Project), Harrogate Spring Water, Holdsworth Racing and vintage Jowett cars.
