Time to grab community cash

WE still have money to give away to deserving causes as part of our Cash For The Community scheme.

The Advertiser’s Cash For The Community money giveaway, run in association with the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, aims to help those who work to make Rotherham a better place.

Last year we gave away £15,000 and we still have almost £5,000 of this year’s pot to dish out to groups whose work helps to cut crime or reduce the risk of crime being committed against vulnerable people.

Groups to benefit so far over the past year include The Winterhill Project, The Clifton Methodist Youth Club Chill Out Room, STEM For Air Cadets, Swinton Community Bonfire and Rotherham Pride

Since the scheme started cash has also been awarded to the Aspire Community Hub of Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham Talking Newspaper, the 9th Rotherham Scout Group of Rawmarsh, Mind in Mexborough Library, Ferham Festival and Eastwood Let’s Play Outside Project.

Editor Andrew Mosley said: “Pleasingly, the grants have been spread across the community and a wide variety of projects that have been featured on these pages.

“We are pleased to be able to support such work that makes a real difference to people’s lives, and we are even more delighted to be able to raise awareness of the good that people are doing across the borough.”
