Theatre workshop bringing the West End to Wickersley

A DANCER who is making waves in on the London stage is returning to her hometown to pass on her tips of the trade

Megan Louch is hosting a West End masterclass at her former school, Wickersley School and Sports College, for youngsters aged six to 21.

Megan (28, pictured), who has recently starred in Club Tropicana the Musical, will be bringing with her two fellow professionals for the one-day intensive workshop in a bid to help inspire budding performers.

Tara Verloop has starred in hit shows such as Dirty Dancing, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Rock of Ages, while audiences may have seen Heather Scott-Martin in Annie, Grease and Mamma Mia.

Megan said: “This is a fun-filled day of musical theatre in which students take part in three West End workshops with industry professionals.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to learn musical theatre repertoire, participate in Q&A sessions with a variety of professional performers, experience typical pre-show warm ups and more.”

Since graduating from London’s Laine Theatre Arts in 2012, Megan has toured non-stop with Mamma Mia, Guys and Dolls, Dirty Dancing and Annie.

She also recently worked alongside Dawn French in the London Palladium’s all-star pantomime Snow White and will be heading off on a European tour with another hit show — although says she can’t reveal which show just yet.

She added: “I’m originally from Rotherham and I’m very passionate about providing wonderful opportunities to local students.”

Megan and her That’s Jazz Dance Academy has run several of the workshops previously and this year has expanded the age range from late teens to now include children aged six and over.

The £35 masterclass will be at Wickersley School and Sports College on Sunday, September 8, from 9.30am to 4pm.

Contact Megan on 07825 127247 or email [email protected] to secure your child’s place.

Returning students and sibling discounts are available.
