Theatre imagines what panto favourites might be up to

THERE might not be a pantomime showing in Rotherham this year — but audiences can find out what their favourite characters have been “up to” during the pandemic by going online.

Rotherham Civic Theatre, which would usually be in the midst of panto season, is still closed and, like theatres across the UK, has had to come up with an alternative way of keeping their audiences engaged over the festive period.

Staff at the theatre launched Panto In The Wild on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram earlier this month.

It sees characters such as the dwarfs from Snow White and Aladdin released into the Rotherham community and imagines what they might have been up to during the pandemic.

It also follows the escapades of some of the more villainous characters who are now “wanted” by the authorities.

You can follow the developments on the Rotherham Theatres Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
