A NEW community cafe is bringing together food lovers from all walks of life.

The new venture at St Paul’s Church in Masbrough has welcomed volunteers aged from five to 85 from backgrounds as diverse as Albania and Jordan on a Monday afternoon to cook a meal a share to share with neighbours.

Christine Batchford from Rotherham TimeBuilders, which is supporting the project, said: “We are hoping to use food that would otherwise have been wasted and are currently in discussion with Tesco, Morrison’s and Asda about receiving donations from them.

“The food is all vegetarian and we will be opening the doors after Christmas to local people to join us for a healthy, low cost meal.

“Until then, as we learn the ropes, we’re meeting fortnightly to cook, eat and plan.

“We are looking for some more volunteers who like to cook or are looking to be involved in an innovative community endeavour to join our team.”

Time Builders was launched in July to help bring people together to volunteer their time and share their skills.
