Tall Tom brings laughs to Wickersley

MULTI-award-winning comic Tom Wrigglesworth is aiming to produce some giant laughs in Wickersley this week.

The famously-tall stand-up comes to The Courtyard on Thursday.

Yorkshire-born Tom (pictured) became a national have-a-go hero when he rescued a little old lady from the jaws of Virgin train bureaucracy, only to be arrested for “begging”.

His subsequent sell-out show Open Return Letter to Richard Branson bagged him a Chortle Award for Best Show and a nomination for the main Edinburgh Festival award.

Tom won a Sony Award for his Radio 4 series Open Letters and two series of his show Hang Ups were critically acclaimed and nominated for the prestigious Rose D’Or award.

His television credits include Russell Howard's Good News, Edinburgh Comedy Show, Live At The Comedy Store and Engineering Giants.

Main support comes in the form of Chris Washington who was nominated for Best New Show at last year's Edinburgh Festival.

He has supported Jason Manford on his UK tour with his self deprecatory Northern no nonsense wit.

The night is compered by Anthony J. Brown, a former Jongleurs Award winner.

The show starts at 8pm and tickets are £10, available in advance from The Courtyard.
