AN ORCHESTRA has not let lockdown stop them from creating a performance to mark what would have been their June concert.

Rotherham Symphony Orchestra has put together a virtual concert which will premiere on its Facebook page at 7.30pm on Saturday.

The orchestra was established in 2017 to give the town a professional standard orchestra that would showcase the rich musical talent it has and to offer young musicians a pathway of learning that leads to elite level.

Since its first concert, Proms in the Park in Clifton Park in September of that year, the orchestra has gone from strength to strength, performing in venues around the borough including Rotherham Minster and at Wentworth Woodhouse in the famous Marble Saloon.

The orchestra has also been featured live on BBC’s Look North evening programme.
