Sun shines as villagers and visitors enjoy Aston Carnival

ORGANISERS of a colourful community celebration thanked the army of volunteers who helped make it a success.

Aston Carnival featured a lively parade through the village from School Grove before an afternoon of fun at Lodge Lane Playing Fields.

The event included a dog show, performances from the likes of Janet Mitchell School of Dance, Zubaidah Belly Dancers, Unite Martial Arts and Tristan the Twister.

Aston Carnival Queen Holly Graville was crowned by the Mayor of Rotherham Cllr Tajamal Khan and local councillor Lyndsay Pitchley, looking on were attendants Ella (left) and Millie Wright.

The organisers said in a statement: “A huge thank you to each and every stall holders and car owner who attended, the community for coming along and showing their support, and not forgetting the helpers on the day whether you help every year or new this year.

“Everyone has taken part and made it one of the biggest events we have had it recent years.”
