Stargazing event returns to Clifton Park this weekend

A FREE evening of stargazing, telescopes and presentations will take place at Clifton Park.

The event - Planets in the Park - is hosted by Mexborough and Swinton Astronomical Society in the walled garden from 6pm to 8.30pm on Saturday.

Friends of Clifton Park chairman Elaine Humphries said: “This will be the eighth time we’ve held this event.

“Last year was fantastic because the sky was completely clear and we had a lovely crescent moon.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own telescopes but the society will also have some available for use.

Elaine said: “It’s an ideal place to start, for example if someone got a telescope for Christmas and would like help setting it up and learning a little more.”
