South Yorkshire networking group tackle the three peaks challenge

MEMBERS of a South Yorkshire networking group have teamed up to raise money for charity by taking on a challenge of a lifetime.

A diverse group of accountants, lawyers, snowboarding and traffic management specialists have joined forces to raise vital funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK by taking on The Three Peaks Challenge.

The team has been in training for the hair raising climb since November  which will see them scale heights of more than 1,300metres next Saturday (21) as they attempt to reach the top of Snowden, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis.

Mark Ilsley, manager at Rotherham based Whinfrey Briggs chartered accountants, said: “Yes, we are a little crazy and the three mountain ranges we will be climbing are currently snow, meaning temperatures will also be a challenge in itself.

“Pancreatic Cancer UK does such great work to support patients and the families of patients suffering from this horrible disease that we wanted to raise money to help them continue such work.”

The businessmen from across South Yorkshire have also arranged a charity evening on Friday at the Holiday Inn in Warmsworth, Doncaster where guests will have the chance to bid on some prizes including signed boxing gloves and luxury hampers.

Mr Ilsley added: “We hope to raise £10,000 from the two key events,  so watch this space.”
