Sequin fest a bit of let-down

The Advertiser's Amy Westby and Lloyd Hayhurst will be keeping up with Strictly along with Russell Grant. Here is Amy's view of the first programme.

Strictly Come Dancing was back for a new series at the weekend and I was so excited I turned down the chance to sip cocktails at a posh wine bar.

Instead I grabbed some tasty nibbles, a bottle of wine and prepared for an onslaught of sequins and step-ball-changes all from the comfort of my own sofa.

To be brutally honest, the first show on Friday was a real let down. Perhaps my expectations were too high but no-one got my heart racing—not even the handsome TV presenter Dan Lobb.

Instead I had to wait until Saturday night for some excitement in the shape of Harry from McFly, Jason Donovan and little Chelsee Healey.

I am being harsh, I know that and to be fair it was week one—most of them did well to remember the routine. That in itself is a triumph.

Nerves were no doubt a factor but the sooner the celebrities let themselves go the more fun they will have.

Early favourite for me is Harry from McFly. First to go: Nancy or Robbie.

Hero of the week: Russell Grant for his amazing sparkly eye shadow.
