Organised by national disability charity Sense, the event is a call for greater visibility for disabled people across the community.

Sense care manager and walk organiser, Sarah Graham, said she was “really excited” that people could get involved in the inaugural walk in support of people with disabilities.

“We encourage local people to join us in this wonderful initiative,” she added.

The event is one of 15 Sense Walks which are taking place across England and Wales on Wednesday (June 26) and coincides with Deafblind Awareness Week.

The one-mile walk will kick off at 11am from the Sense centre on Coleridge Road, East Dene, and will see participants pound the pavements through Rotherham, ending at the Sense shop on Frederick Street.
