See Jonathan on daredevil gameshow

A PRIMARY school teacher hoped to prove he was top of the class when he applied to appear on the BBC’s 101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow

Jonathan Taylor (44), who teaches at Dalton Listerdale Junior and Infant School, made it on to the outlandish new show and can be seen on its sixth episode, to be screened tomorrow evening.

Jonathan, who is married to Carole and has two daughters, Natalie (18) and Gemma (15), will appear alongside seven other contestants—all hoping to scoop the £10,000 prize money.

He said: “It was my older daughter who put me up for the show. She sent for the application form for me, because she knows that I’m always willing to have a laugh and get stuck in with stuff.”

Jonathan scooped his place on the show, which is hosted by Steve Jones, after a full day’s audition in Manchester, where wannabe contestants had to take part in group activities and talk about themselves for a minute on camera as well as complete a task.

He travelled out to Argentina earlier this year for the filming of the show and spent eight days in the country.

The programme is filmed outside Buenos Aires, in the same place that Total Wipeout is recorded. The show features stunts on the top, middle, lower and ground levels of a special tower.

Jonathan said: “All the stunts involve a dunking of some sort—people are ejected from the show in quite startlingly scary ways.”

In spite of the fear element, Jonathan said: “It was unbelievable and I would do it again tomorrow. It was really stunning!”

To see how Jonathan got on, tune in to BBC1 tomorrow evening at 6.50pm.
