Santa Claus is coming to town - and here's where you can see him

SANTA will be back on tour around the borough next week as two community bodies aim to bring lashings of Christmas spirit to town.

Rotherham Round Table will be criss-crossing a large area of Rotherham from Tuesday, while Maltby (Rother Valley) Lions will cover Dinnington, Thurcroft and Ravenfield among other areas from tomorrow (Thursday).

Both groups’ festive sleigh runs are organised and manned by volunteers and all donations made go to good causes, charity and community groups.

Round Table will be collecting on the night but are also accepting donations at  tinyurl.com/RRTsleigh21 and will be keeping everyone updated at their Rotherham Round Table 24 Facebook page.

    Their sleigh will be visiting the following areas: December 14: Waverley; December 15: Canklow & Whiston; December 16: Stag; December 17: Brecks; December 18: Brinsworth; December 19: Brinsworth; December 20: Wickersley; December 21: Bramley; December 22: Woodlaithes; December 23: Grange estate; Christmas Eve: Duke of Norfolk estate.

    Round Table chairman Ben Widdop said: “Taking Santa around the streets to see everyone is one of the highlights of our year, so our members can’t wait to get out there again.”

    The Lions timetable is split into northern section and runs as follows:

    North Side: Tomorrow: Thurcroft; Friday: Highfield Park; Saturday: Manor, Maltby (5pm); Sunday: Laughton & Brookhouse (5pm); December 13: No evening sleigh; December 14: Model Village & Birks Holt (6pm);  December 15: White City and Hellaby (6pm); December 16: Sheppey and Little London (6pm); December 17: Ravenfield (Ravenfield Arms) (6pm); December 18: Ravenfield (Cavalier) (6pm); December 18: Ravenfield  (Cavalier Pub) (5pm); December 19: Cliff Hills (5pm); December 20: No evening sleigh; December 21: Braithwell (6pm); December 22: Lilly Hall, Columbus Way, Maltby (6pm); December 23 & 24: Dale Hill Road (Upperfield Road and lower estate/Scott Walk and New estate).                                 

    South Side: Tomorrow: Kiveton (6pm); Friday: Aughton (6pm); Saturday: Aston Lodge Lane (5.30pm); Sunday, December 12: The Chase, Aston (5.30pm); December 13: No evening sleigh; December 14: Rosegarth, Aston;  December 15: Swallow Wood Est &Alpina Way Est (6pm); December 16: Laughton Common (6pm); December 17: Throapham (6pm): December 18: Woodsetts (5.30pm); December 19: No evening sleigh; December 20: High Nook, Dinnington (6pm) December 21: South Anston (6pm); December 22: Dinnington Church Lane (6pm); December 23: North Anston Lakeland Drive (6pm); Christmas Eve, North Anston Wimpey estate.

    The Lions will also be at Tesco in Maltby tomorrow (9.30am to 1pm) and at Tesco in Dinnington on this Saturday and next Saturday (9am to 3pm).
