Rotherham ROAR mixing art and science

AN ART group is out to recruit nature lovers for a new project aimed at exploring the relationship between art, science and water.

Rotherham ROAR have tapped into the fund for Symbiosis – The Art of Living with Water which will focus on the River Don through the borough.

It will involve workshops and public events for artists, environmentalists and members of the public, with reference to the interconnected threats of flooding, the climate emergency, and the biodiversity crisis.

ROAR said the workshops, field trips and accompanying bursaries “will serve as an engine of inspiration, enabling the cross-fertilisation of the ideas from artists, environmentalists, scientists and citizen scientists to activate future collaborations”.

The project aims to get people thinking about climate change and how much they recognise ourselves as being part of the ecology of their surroundings, as well as looking at ways to promote biodiversity.

It will culminate in an ArtBomb festival in August 2022.
