Rotherham Rep go off at a tangent for new show next week

ROTHERHAM Rep return to the Civic Theatre next week with a tale of family life — and strife.

The long running am-dram group are staging Family Circles, Alan Ayckbourn’s play asking: “What would have happened had I married someone else?”

The plot concerns Edward and Emma Gray, their three daughters and their daughters’ partners who arrive at the Gray's home to celebrate their parent's wedding anniversary.

However, each couple seems to be generally unsuited and Edward and Emma are force to examine the state of their own union.

Without giving much away, there’s plenty of changing of partners and outrageous entanglements before a hectic and hopefully hilarious denouement.

The Rep’s production features a cast which will be familiar to Rotherham audiences, including Sarah Cleverley, Stephen Coward, Leah Culf, Kevin Jackson, Polly Lovegrove, Yvette Sayles, Richard Wilshaw and Alex Wilson.

The show opens next Tuesday, September 10, at the Civic and runs until Friday, September 13, with performances starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from the theatre box office at The Makers’ Emporium in High Street, Rotherham, on 01709 823621 or 01709 823640 or at https://www.rotherhamtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/.
