Fresh from lampooning Westminster politicians in Yes, Prime Minister, the Rep look closer to home for their next production.

And the nine-strong cast of season-closing Happy Families have already been in animated action in a clip portraying them as characters in the classic card game, which you can see on the theatre company’s Facebook page.

As for the show, Happy Families is an autobiographical but dramatised look at Godber’s life from 1967 to his graduation day in 1978.

It sees Godber looking back on his teenage years with warmth, remembering the joys, tensions and sorrows of family life.

Now older and educated, he finds himself alienated from his working class family who can't understand his theatrical aspirations.

Happy Families looks affectionately at how an ordinary family struggles with change.
