Rotherham dancers take to the floor in international competition

TALENTED dancers will battle it out against competitors from across the globe next month after qualifying for the finals of an international competition.

Youngsters from Team Katalyst, which is based on Barbot Hall Industrial Estate, will take part in the UDO World Street Dance Finals in Glasgow from August 18 to 21.

The group qualified after seeing off competition at the BDO Championships in Stoke on Trent earlier this month.

Richard Codd, director, said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for our kids — some who are as young as six-years-old to travel and dance with other young people, make new friends and hopefully bring a trophy or two back to Rotherham.”

The group will hold two events to help raise money for the youngsters’ kit and entry for the tournament.

It will hold a Schools Out party on Friday, July 15, from 7pm until 10pm where youngsters can use all of the parkour — free-running — facilities.

The event will have a fancy dress theme and teenagers are invited to wear their school uniform. Entry will cost £5.

There will also be a summer party at the group’s venue on Saturday, July 16, with bouncy castle, barbecue and disco from 3pm until 8pm. Admission is £10.
