Singer/songwriter Reg Meuross will be the guest at a special Raising the Rafters concert in Wath as part of his national Twelve Silk Handerchiefs tour. At Reg’s request, money raised will be donated to Humber Rescue which carries out search and rescue operations on the Rivers Humber, Hull and Trent. A club organiser said: “We can’t believe that we have managed to get a performer of the calibre of Reg Meuross to come to Raising the Rafters. Many of his songs are sung in folk clubs all over the country as standards and he is an enormously influential musician. We have kept the door price deliberately low in order to attract as many people as possible to enjoy Reg’s music and are hoping for a full house. It is going to be a memorable night of music.” Supporting Reg will be guitar/piano accordion duo Alan Wood and Andy Wild. Concert at St James’ Rooms (next to Wath parish church), Church Street. Doors open 7.30pm. Tickets via www.wegottickets.com, from the next Raising the Rafters on September 14 or by telephoning 07522576855. Tickets £8 each (aged16 or under free). Visitors can bring their own drinks.
