Playground walk raised cash for charity and Wath school

WALKING around the playground proved an inspiration for two friends who hit upon the idea for a fundraising campaign.

Erina Hyde and Chloe Theaker were walking their daily mile at school when they decided to team up for a series of events to drum up cash.

The two Year 4 girls from Wath Central Primary School put on a coffee morning, tombola, raffle, Guess the Name of the Teddy game and raised £790.

The money will be split between the Alzheimers Society and funding a school adventure playground.

Nicola McMullen, community project manager for the James Montgomery Academy Trust (JMAT), which runs the school, said: “The girls were walking their daily mile at school when they came up with the idea to do a fundraiser for these two worthy causes.

“They discussed their idea with their families and school, who supported their idea 100 per cent.

“Both families and school are extremely proud of the girls for all their hard work in this project and love the fact that the girls have such big hearts.

“Their families and school would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported the girls in this fundraiser in any way possible.”
