PHOTO GALLERY: Stately home basks in sunshine for first-ever festival

The all-day event welcomed around 2,500 people, young and old, on to the lawn of the picturesque Wentworth Woodhouse on Sunday.

Some of the biggest names in music - including Conisbrough-born Tony Christie and Sheffield favourites Heaven 17 - entertained the masses, while winners of the Advertiser buskers competition performed in the beer tent.

The Underground stage played host to local unsigned bands while comedians such as Archie Kelly, Steve Royle and Martin Mor graced the Last Laugh Comedy tent stage.

Festival-goers enjoyed over 40 acts in total, including household names such as Dodgy, T’Pau, Lemar and many more, while children were entertained by fairground rides and street acts.

Organisers Toby Foster and Steve White said they were keen to build on the success of the first music festival held in the grounds.

Toby said: “The festival went fantastically well, the feedback has been absolutely incredible.

“The atmosphere was fantastic. We had a teething problem with the bar with it getting so busy, but it’s hard to complain about being too busy.

“Everyone who has got in touch has said ‘we know the bar was bad, but good luck for next year’. They have been so supportive.

“We didn’t have any trouble either, which is incredible when you have 2,500 people drinking for ten hours - and families stayed right until the end.

“We’ve still got to have talks about next year, but if they want to put it on again then so do I.”
