IT was sup, sup and away for Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival as punters packed into Magna to toast the event’s “hoppy” return.

An estimated 4,500 music and beer lovers flocked to the science centre to sample the fruits of brewers’ labours.

The busy music line-up included Americana, soul and rock ‘n’ roll and was topped off by a popular performance by indie tribute act Oasis-Maybe.

The festival — back after a year off — was themed around the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, with bars named after iconic wartime aircraft.

Volunteers built the bars, hooked up the pumps and pulled the half-pints during the three-day event, which also featured music in the Lancaster Bomber Hall — including sets from Lauren Housley, Fargo Railroad Co (pictured above in photo by Mal Whichelow) Kazabian, Mollyanna and At the Arcade, among others — and the Chantry Boardwalk, which aimed to recreate the spirit of the famous Sheffield club.

The title of Rotherham CAMRA Champion Beer of Yorkshire, which this time around crowned previous winner Chantry Three Magpies Porter joint winner with Triple Point’s Debut.
