PANTO legend Damian Williams brought some festive sparkle to youngsters at Bluebell Wood.

Dame Damian — currently starring in Mother Goose at the Lyceum — met families, carers and staff at the children’s hospice.

Mother Goose is his tenth pantomime in Sheffield, while next year marks a decade since Bluebell Wood opened its doors in North Anston.

He said: “It was a delight to visit this Christmas, and especially appropriate considering we’ve got a ten-year celebration in common.

“This wonderful charity supports families through the hardest of times, so to be able to put a few smiles on faces was brilliant.

“Bluebell Wood helps families in Sheffield and across the region to live with love and laughter, and hopefully the sight of a panto dame walking through their doors just before Christmas helped with that too.”

Emma Doughty, the hospice’s head of family support, said: “We can’t thank Damian enough for taking the time to come and meet our children, young adults and the people that support them.

“It really means a lot. Many of our families have loved watching him in panto and know there is no-one better when it comes to Christmas family entertainment.

“To get to meet the great dame in person was an amazing treat, and has really helped to put the sparkle into our festive season.”
