New TV quiz puts "Yorkshire Puddings" to the test

A NEW quiz show aims to put to the test just how intelligent Yorkshire folk really are.

ANYONE for pudding?

Actor Dean Sills, best known for his sitcom and horror film work, has turned his hand to presenting, taking the helm of a new quiz show called Yorkshire Puddings.

A pilot episode has been filmed for the quiz, which aims to put to the test just how intelligent Yorkshire folk really are.

Dean, from Bolton on Dearne, questioned Steve Call, director of Dean’s sitcom Up North, and co-star Keiron Goodwin.

Dean (pictured, putting the questions), said: “At the end of the show, the winner was the one who was less intelligent and crowned the Yorkshire Puddings champion.

“The loser was the one who was more intelligent, who were just bright and showing off and got to go home without a trophy.”

The quiz show pilot had four rounds, including “It Be Reet”, “Ee By Gum”, “Wat Yer Playing At” and “Were Ya Born In A Barn?”

Dean added: “It was fun writing and presenting this and we are grateful to Sheffield Live! for letting us use their studio.

“We did talk about getting the show on their channel but we have decided to put it on Steve Call’s Digital Indie channel where people can watch it online now.

“I think looking at the style we have filmed this in, it would probably work better as a podcast and not a TV show.

“We hope to return to it in the future, maybe as a podcast using members of the general public as contestants, if we can find a platform to broadcast it on."

Dean also paid tribute to late floor manager and camera operator Phil Baldwin, who has sadly died since the shoot.
