New date announced for Wentworth Music Festival

FESTIVAL fun is finally “coming home” to Rotherham this autumn – 15 months later than first planned.

The Lightning Seeds (pictured), who captured football fans’ hearts during Euro 96 with their “Football’s Coming Home” anthem “Three Lions”, were announced as the headliners for Wentworth Music Festival back in October 2019.

But their top slot at the stately home knees-up, which had been earmarked to take place during the Euro 2020 tournament, was put on hold after the event fell victim to the coronavirus pandemic.

Festival organisers Toby Foster and Steve White have now announced the rearranged date for the music and comedy spectacle as Saturday, September 18.

Nineties icons Space, Kenny Thomas, Dario G and Rozalla will also be on the bill at Wentworth Woodhouse, alongside 80s star Hazell Dean, 2000s indie hit-makers The Feeling, Doncaster band Bang Bang Romeo and top tribute act Complete Madness and festival favourites Soul Sensation.

Comics Justin Moorhouse and Archie Kelly, both castmates of Toby’s on Phoenix Night, are among the bookings for the comedy tent, while the Phoenix Club’s resident band Les Alanos will be compering the event.

The festival will also feature food stalls, fun fair rides and the 100ft-long main bar.
