Miss Universe hopeful reaches for the stars

TODAY Rotherham, tomorrow the Universe!

That’s the aim of Treeton beauty Jaime-Lee Faulkner, who plans to add yet another title to her growing list of accolades this weekend.

The 21-year-old beauty therapist was named Miss Universe Yorkshire earlier this month and heads to Birmingham on Sunday to battle for the national title.

If named Miss Universe GB from among 60 finalists, she will fly to Brazil in September for the international final.

Jaime-Lee said that she would be delighted if she won the national crown but was already happy with her success.

“I was amazed to win Miss Universe Yorkshire because I really didn’t expect to win, so getting this far is great,” she said. “It’s a bonus just being in the final but I’m proud to be going to represent Yorkshire.”

Jaime-Lee, a former Miss South Yorkshire, is the current Deputy Miss England and recently served as a judge on the panel for Miss South Yorkshire 2011.

She said that her involvement with the county-wide competition, which was organised by her mum Jill, could come in handy when competing herself.

“I think it is good for me acting as a judge because you really learn from it,” Jaime-Lee added.

“But the best thing about it is all the friends you make and the people you meet.”
