Megaslam wrestling rumbles into Rotherham

A WRESTLING spectacular will rumble into Rotherham Leisure Complex for a one-of-a-kind homecoming showdown this week.

High-octane fight-fest Megaslam Wrestling began life at Silverwood Miners’ Welfare in 2009.

Now, performing up to 300 international shows a year and with a WWE start in its stable, the smackdown will return to Rotherham this Friday for one night only.

Owner and organiser Brad Taylor says the chance to see live wrestling up close is not to be missed.

“Usually for families, the only way to watch a live wrestling spectacular is on TV,” he said.

“With Megaslam, we bring the action to you. The larger-than-life stars, the big crowds, the uncomparable atmosphere – it really is a family spectacle.”

And fans are encouraged to raise their voices for their favourite wrestling stars.

Brad said: “Our shows are full-on family entertainment. We encourage our fans to boo the bad guys, cheer the good guys and let off steam for two hours.”

The Rotherham date will be a part of the company’s ninth anniversary celebrations

“Rotherham is where Megaslam was born,” said Brad.

“Nine years ago we held a small event in Dalton and now here we are, a good 2,500 shows on we are returning home for one night only.”

Stars bidding Rotherham include two-time Megaslam Champion CJ Banks, a popular fighter from Southport.

Flame-haired Bootle boy Danny Hudson will also be on the bill, as he looks to climb the ranks to earn a shot at the champion.

And seasoned pro Sam Gradwell – a Blackpool wrestler who accompanies WWE wrestlers on their UK tours – will also make an appearance here, as will the ever-popular Megaslam Ladies.

The main event will be a Rumble Rampage, when every fighter competes at once to throw their rivals over the top rope.

Megaslam crashes into Rotherham Leisure Complex from 7pm on Friday, February 16. Tickets are available at www.megaslam.co.uk.
