Meet the new Miss South Yorkshire

A BEVVY of beauties flocked to a Rotherham hotel for the crowning of Miss South Yorkshire.

Caroline Welch (17) was the victorious contestant, with the Doncaster make-up artist knocking Rotherham’s Jade Mellows and Robyn Huxley into second and third place.

Friday’s final at the Holiday Inn brought to a head a campaign which has seen the beauties put through their paces at an Army-style boot camp, drenched with gunge at a charity carnival and putting on a series of their own fund-raising events.

The end result was a bumper total of £8,000 for five charities, including the Rotherham Hospice and runaways charity SAFE@LAST.

Caroline will go on to represent South Yorkshire in the Miss England finals in June.
