Magna plans out-of-this-world summer

TOPICS from the solar system to snakes will feature in a series of children’s summer workshops at Magna.

Stars and planets sessions will take youngsters on a tour of the night sky, artist Kate Sully will host a science-inspired art session and the University of Sheffield scientists will hold a workshop on molecules.

Magna education director Stuart Ballard said: “We want youngsters to have a great time and get hands on with a range of activities but to also inspire their interest in science and how the world works.

“The variety of different events taking place shows what a diverse venue we have on our hands.”

The former steel mill will also host bubble workshops and opportunities for youngsters to make mini rockets and handle creatures like snakes and tarantulas.

Magna’s Aqua-Tek water play area and Sci-Tek adventure area are also open to the public.

The events take place until August 31. For ticket information and full event listings, go to www.visitmagna.co.uk.
