Lockdown musical comes to the Civic this week

ROTHERHAM theatre legend Dee-Bennie Marshall's musical lockdown creation opens on Thursday for a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it run at the Civic.

Forbidden Theatre shines the spotlight on a fictional group of out-of-work Broadway performers, who meet up in a bar and perform music and songs from many shows, such as Hamilton, Waitress, Newsies, Mean Girls – and current cinema hit Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

The show, penned by experienced director and choreographer Dee, features dance routines as well as some “harder to get” songs – those from shows where the full rights are not yet available.

Forbidden Theatre is the second production from Rotherham Theatres Student Academy in a few weeks.
