Let us spray! Rotherham kids hone their skills at painting workshop

YOUNG artists showed off their skills with help from spray cans and a canalside wall.

The Spraycan Art Workshop organised by the Don Catchment Rivers Trust and run by Faunagraphic was aimed at young people aged 11 to 18.

Eighteen youngsters brought a splash of colour to a cinder block wall at Holmes Lock at the end of Steel Street, Rotherham, during the free workshops which ran over three days.

The event was funded through the Living Heritage of the River Don project.

    Projects assistant Matt Duffy said the scheme aimed to give young people new skills and the chance to get outside.

    Matt said: “It went really well. The wall is looking good and the kids loved it. 

    “They created a nature-inspired mural using freehand spray painting techniques.”

    Matt said that there may be another spraycan workshop soon in Sheffield.
