Jubilee themed events and activities taking place in Rotherham Libraries

LIBRARIES across Rotherham are holding a host of Jubilee themed events and activities to mark the Queen’s impressive reign.

From crown and bunting making to royal-themed treasure hunts, from afternoon tea to choral performances, there is something for all ages to enjoy.

The Central Library at Riverside House is hosting a poetry competition on the theme of treasures, which runs until next Saturday.

There will be three winners, with one selected from each of the following age categories: five to 11, 12 to 18 and adult.

The library is also hosting paper-based activities, including making paper roses, crowns, bunting and paper chains, as well as a crown jewels treasure trail and a general knowledge quiz with prizes.

Swinton Library is hosting a music and afternoon tea event from 4pm to 5pm on Monday May, 30, with music from Kilnhurst Choir.

Tea, coffee and cakes will be provided, admission is free event and there is no need to book.

Next Tuesday, Rawmarsh Library is hosting a Right Royal Garden Party, with free coffee and cake, while Mowbray Gardens activities include a Saturday with the Royals session for under-10s from 10am to noon next Saturday, exploring what the Royals might do on their day off.

Ig animals are your passion, head to Wickersley Library at 10.30am next Tuesday for Lion Learners, complete with animal handling.

Tickets cost £5 per child, which is payable at the time of booking in the library
