Join artist at Rotherham market for creative week celebrating International Women’s Day

AN ARTIST is urging people to get creative and help her to make an interactive textile piece at Rotherham’s indoor market to celebrate International Women’s Day next week.

Toni Buckby and Rotherham Open Arts Renaissance (ROAR) will be working with people to create the textile piece at the indoor market in Rotherham Town centre from Monday to Friday (March 4-8) between 10am and 3pm.

The project — named LOOM — will involve people weaving yarns, threads, wire, LEDs, displays, speakers and touch sensitive components into a large woven fabric.

On Thursday, there will be two short workshops, from 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm, weaving small touch sensitive pieces using mini frame looms designed by Toni as part of The Interlace Project.

International Women’s Day is on Friday, March 8.
