Jessie plays the Junkee

UP-AND-COMING folk singer Jessie Reid brings her catchy songs to Sheffield in promotion of her new single.

The excellent Hold Me Tight, which follows the heavily streamed Whole Heart, showcases a bigger sound for Jessie, who  tours throughout October, taking in dates in Brighton, London, Bristol, Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, and Newcastle, and including a show at Record Junkee in Sheffield

Her folk-influenced percussive guitar playing has drawn comparisons with the likes of Ben Howard, Lucy Rose and Nick Mulvey and her singles have amassed more than a million streams with support from Spotify, BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and Chris Hawkins, BBC Wales’s Janice Long and BBC Introducing in Shropshire.

She says: “Hold Me Tight is a hugely exciting release for me personally — it’s a slight step away from my usual sound with a bigger sound that will (hopefully!) get your foot tapping.

“It’s essentially a love song, telling someone you would do anything for them and that in the end you’ll always have each other. It’s about seeming almost invincible together and the feeling that you can be completely relied upon and vice versa.”

Jessie was shortlisted for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition and has travelled as far as New York, South America and Europe.

She has also toured with the likes of Seafret, Dan Owen, Ciaran Lavery and Brooke Bentham and has recently signed with the Antifragile label on which the EP will be released before she heads out on the tour with Night Flight and Sam Brookes.

She plays Record Junkee in Sheffield on Tuesday October 12. More information at https://recordjunkee.co.uk/
