Hollywood blockbusters head to Wentworth for outdoor film fest

OUTDOOR cinema is coming to Rotherham this summer, with two musical hits from 30 years apart set to grace the silver screen.

Wentworth Woodhouse is taking part in the Summer Nights Film Festival, which will see The Greatest Showman and Dirty Dancing to be shown on on Friday, August 24, and Saturday, August 25, respectively.

The festival — which is taking in 13 locations across the UK — is staged by Derby arts venue QUAD using an inflatable 12-metre screen.

Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron star in The Greatest Showman, the musical re-telling of P.T. Barnum’s creation of the Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Earlier this year, the film proved to be an unexpected box office sensation with the song This is Me going on to become a Golden Globe winner.

Holiday camp dance drama Dirty Dancing has been gathering new fans since 1987, when audiences were first captivated by the story of Frances “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Grey) and her romance with dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze).

Early bird tickets are on sale until June 1 via the QUAD box office on 01332 290606, priced at £12.50 for adults or £8.50 for under-12s.

Standard tickets cost £15.50 for adults or £10.50 for under 12s, while children under five go free.
