Harthill Carnival back with a bang!

HARTHILL’S comeback carnival was a right royal celebration — complete with a float paying tribute to two very different Queens.

The three-year wait proved worthwhile as organisers said Harthill Carnival had proved an “amazing” afternoon, followed by a concert by Uncle Funk and Disco Inferno.

As well as the jubilee-themed parade, the event at Spen Fields on Saturday featured a horse show, classic cars, a brass band performance, vintage tractors and an extreme bike show.

Organisers said the evening event “had to close down a little earlier than planned at the request of the police who attended an incident” and apologised for the disruption.

But they added: “The Carnival Society, in our 46th year ask the community to simply embrace the successes of the day and our legacy of ensuring a fun filled annual community event takes place.
