Hammad gives his views on movie hits

A PROMISING film critic took to the airwaves this week to talk about his love of the movies.

Hammad Raza, from Rudston Preparatory School, travelled to London on Monday to be a VIP guest at a preview of British comedy Made in Dagenham at the Empire Leicester Square.

After the showing, he had the chance to interview the film’s producer, Stephen Woolley, as the pair discussed National Schools Film Week and the importance of films to youngsters across the UK in a series of radio interviews broadcast nationwide.

Hammad won the dream trip after being named one of this year’s Young Film Critics Of The Year for his analysis of the film Ratatouille in the seven-to-11 years Film Fan category.

You can still see his winning entry online at www.youngfilmcritic.org.

Thousands of young film fans will be treated to a free trip to the cinema as part of this year’s National Schools Film Week, which runs from October 14 to 22.

Nick Walker, director of National Schools Film Week, said: “We hope that teachers and students feel engaged in the week and realise that attending a NSFW screening is far more than a nice trip to the cinema.

“We do this by giving schools added talks and online resources to empower teachers by giving them the opportunity to programme which films at their local cinema they feel tie in with school topics.”
