Godber's new comedy coming to county

A NEW play by renowned writer John Godber is set to be performed at Doncaster’s Cast Theatre next month.

The Empty Nesters’ Club offers a humorous yet poignant look at the pain of what befalls parents after the children have outgrown the family home. 

It will be performed at Cast from Tuesday, April 11, to Thursday, April 13 and is produced by The John Godber Company and Theatre Royal Wakefield.

Newly bereft mum Vicky Barret, whose daughter has recently left for university in London, prepares for the inaugural meeting of her new support group — the Empty Nesters’ Club — by reflecting on the upheaval of letting go of her not-so-little girl.

The comedy stars Jane Hogarth, Robert Angell and Josie Morley.

The Empty Nesters’ Club is on stage at 7.30pm each day, with a matinee on Wednesday, April 12, at 2.30pm.
