The American alligator is on loan from the zoo at Crocodiles of the World and has been named after the US state capital of Mississippi, where they are commonly found in the wild.

Two-year-old Jackson is just 16ins long but could grow to more than 12ft-long and up to 50 years old.

Visitors to the North Anston tourist attraction will be able to meet Jackson during the centre’s Exotic Animal Encounters sessions, as well as snakes, insects and lizards.
