Gardens open up in Thorpe Salvin

AWARD-winning gardens will be throwing open their gates this weekend.

The popular Thorpe Salvin Garden Trail returns next Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24, with organisers promising a summer of politicial change and a burgeoning slug population will not throw them off their game.

Fund-raising this year is focused on the village’s St Peter’s Church.

“The Garden Trail is the result of a huge year round effort on the part of many volunteers,” said Jonathan Cobb, chairman of Thorpe in Bloom.

“As ever, we’re looking forward to meeting all the visitors to our village - faces old and new.

“And of course, it’s always a delight to be able to swap garden tips with those who share our interests.”

Thorpe Salvin is located on the border between South Yorkshire , Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, only five minutes’ drive from the M1, and lies between Harthill and Shireoaks.

Entrance to the event is £5 per adult and children go free. Free car parking is provided.
