Fun time in Eastwood

A POPULAR summer fun day will be making a welcome return next weekend.

Eastwood’s Fun Fest is back on Saturday from noon until 4pm at Eldon Road Playing Fields.

Co-organiser John Porter said: “Eastwood Village has a very diverse community and while there are downsides to this, Fun Fest is about the positive side, about celebrating the diversity of area.

“Fun Fest allows everyone to get together for a day to enjoy activities  many wouldn’t normal do and integrate with the wider community of Eastwood  and beyond.”

The event, which is turning ten this year, will feature live music and entertainment, with performances from the likes of Nic Harding, Stevie More, Cole Bradshaw, Steph Little and Contraband, with folk musician Ray Hearne as compere.

Activities on offer include a kite-making workshop, tai chi demonstration, bouncy castle and children’s rides, face painting, traditional games and stalls from a variety of groups including Eastwood Village Community Association, Clifton Learning Partnership and Wah Hong Community Group.

The community cafe run by Clifton Learning Partnership at Eastwood Village Community Centre will be open throughout the day offering vegetarian food and drinks, while other refreshments will be available.
