YOUNGSTERS who like the idea of getting arty with a spraycan will have the chance to hone their skills at a series of free workshops.

The Spraycan Art Workshop has been organised by the Don Catchment Rivers Trust and will take place on August 5, 6 and 9 from 10am to 3.30pm.

The workshop is being run by Sheffield-based graffit artist Faunagraphic and will focus on using spray paint to create art.

The workshop is aimed at 11 to 18 year olds and will take place at at Holmes Lock at the end of Steel Street, Rotherham

The workshops are free to attend and have been funded through the Living Heritage of the River Don project.

Projects assistant Matt Duffy said the scheme aimed to change perceptions of the area, give young people new skills and the opportunity to get outside.

He said the art will be created on a wall at the Holmes Lock site, adding: “There’s a long cinder block wall that has tags on it and isn’t particularly that nice to look at.”
