A FREE sport-themed family fun day will be held this Saturday (17) at Herringthorpe Stadium.
The Sport Relief event, hosted by Rotherham Borough Council’s Active Rotherham team, will feature free events and activities for all ages and abilities from 11am to 3pm.
Activities include an interactive bungee run challenge, family bouncy castle, 100m sprint, table tennis, speed bounce, foam javelin, zumba, bowls, aerobics and more.
There will also be a prize for the best fancy dress themed on sports, St Patrick’s Day or Commonwealth Day.
“Sport Relief is a great cause and I hope that lots of Rotherham families are inspired to come along and get involved in this fun event,” said Cllr Taiba Yasseen, the council’s cabinet member for neighbourhood working and cultural services.
“There will be something for all ages and abilities to sample on the day – and it’s all free of charge. If there is something you have always fancied trying but never got round to it, now is your chance.”
For the more competitive, there will be challenges including penalty shoot outs, speed skipping and target golf, with medals up for grabs in each event.
There is no need to book, but as part of the Commonwealth celebrations there will be a free sandwich buffet available for the first 50 people to register and turn up on the day.
