Free family fun day at Rotherham Minster this weekend

ROTHERHAM Minster is throwing a party this weekend.

Vicar of Rotherham, Rev Phil Batchford, and his team are holding a family fun day on Saturday from 11am to 3pm, with attractions such as a bouncy castle, children’s crafts, giant games such as crazy golf, a coconut shy and face painting.

There will be guided tours of the Minster and budding bell ringers will be able to have a go on a portable belfry set up in the churchyard.

Music will be provided throughout the day by a variety of groups and to keep everyone going.

Free refreshments will be served, including tea and fresh jam and cream scones.

Rev Phil said: “We had a great time last year, when lots of people came to see what the Minster has to offer.

“The Minster Church of All Saints is a focal point of Rotherham and its churchyard proved to be the perfect place to throw a party and give something back to the local community and visitors.

“We aim to repeat that by providing a relaxed free fun event right in the centre of town to which everyone is invited — making it the perfect opportunity to come and take a look at our marvellous Grade I-listed church.”
