Former Saxon star brings metal to town

METAL legend Graham Oliver is bringing his newly-renamed band to Rotherham this weekend for a night of rock.

Graham Oliver’s Army, fronted by former Saxon guitarist Graham and Seventh Son singer Bri Shaughnessy, will play the Chantry Brewery Tap at Parkgate tomorrow night.

The band will perform a selection of classic Saxon tracks, including some lesser-heard songs.

Bri added that the name change had come about after previous member Steve Dawson decided to retire from performing live.

“We have been in rehearsal for our first gig with the new name and it’s been sounding good,” he added.

“I played the tap last week with Seventh Son and it’s a really good venue.

“It’s an unusual venue with it being on two levels and having the big metal tuns which gives it a great sound with a bit of an echo.

“There are two support bands on two and it Graham is looking forward to it as Rotherham is practically his home with him being from Mexborough.”

Tickets priced at £11 are available from seetickets.com or on 01709 382581.

Doors open at 7pm and the short starts at 8pm.

Bri and Seventh Son are back at Chantry next Saturday, November 26, for another gig, with Billion Dollar Alice also on the bill.
