Foodie folk plan Thorpe Hesley feast

FOOD-mad fund-raisers will be raising a glass as well as enjoying tasty home-made produce at a festival in aid of a village church.

Various food stalls, a barbecue and a licensed bar selling real ales and sangria will lure in visitors to the food and drink festival at Thorpe Hesley’s Trinity Community Centre on May Day bank holiday Monday, on May 5.

Live music from The Velcro Teddy Bears and a pie and pea supper will follow the festival from 7pm.

The fund-raising food and drink festival is in aid of Holy Trinity Church and will include cookery demonstrations, a baking competition, children's games and activities, cream teas and a raffle and tombola as well as plenty of opportunity to eat and drink.

Entry to the event — open from 11am until 4pm — is £1, with children going free.

Tickets for the live music and pie and pies evening, which includes a licensed bar, are £5 each.
