Folk group welcome rafter raiser Pete Coe this weekend

A MUSICIAN described as a “one man folk industry” will feature at an event this weekend.

Pete Coe will be the guest performer at Raising the Rafters Folk Club in Wath from 8pm on Saturday (8).

St James Rooms on Church Street (next to Wath Parish Church) will host the club’s latest event.

One of the organisers Andrew Wild said: “Pete has been a major player on the folk scene since the 1970s as a singer, songwriter, producer, raconteur, teacher and record label owner.

“He plays melodeon, banjo, bouzouki and dulcimer (not all at the same time) and is an internationally known performer.”

Raising the Rafters is unique among folk clubs as it exists to raise money for charity. All the proceeds from the club go to the Parish Church roof appeal.

The club is not licensed but visitors are welcome to bring their own wine, beer and spirits with glasses provided.

Tickets are £5 on the door. For more details contact Andrew Wild 07522 576855 or Steve Yerrell 07554 244023.
