Fitness challenge at firefighters' family fun day at Dearne station

FIREFIGHTERS’ fitness will be pitted against the public’s during a fun family open day this weekend.

The inaugural Fire HIIT (high-intensity and interval training) Games and Open Day will be held on Saturday from 10am at Dearne Fire Station on Manvers Way. 

Around 100 fitness fanatics have signed up to the HIIT challenge, including firefighters and members of the public, and space is limited.

Only registered competitors will be able to compete on the day.

Events will range from hose dead lifts, ladder presses, casualty carries and tyre flips.  

Each competitor will be timed and the person with the fastest total will be crowned the winner.

All profits raised will go to The Firefighters Charity.

As well as the games, there will also be children’s funfair rides, an aerial artist, vehicles from the fire service museum, road traffic collision and rope rescue demonstrations plus refreshments.
